Over the last year, Walmart has been fighting with online retail giant Amazon by providing customers rapid shipping on thousands of items through Walmart+, a membership program for both online and in-store shoppers. Take out your money, because Amazon Prime Day is coming up later this month, and some people are wondering if Walmart may follow suit with its own massive discount.
According to Digital Trends, Amazon Prime Day will take place on June 21 and 22, and “it appears fairly likely that Walmart will conduct its own discount around the same time.” According to the site, Amazon will give discounts on its own products, such as the Amazon Echo and Kindle, while Walmart will give deep discounts on home supplies and furniture.
Walmart+ will be available for $98 per year starting in the fall of 2020. You’ll get free same-day, next-day, two-day, or curbside pickup delivery, as well as fuel discounts (up to $0.05 per gallon) and access to other useful shopping options as part of your membership.
Walmart’s upcoming massive sale at the end of June isn’t the only chance to save at the retail behemoth. As customers enjoy a more back-to-normal lifestyle, the chain’s CEO recently stated that the firm is focusing on Rollbacks and price reduction on summer staples. It’s all part of a plan to persuade shoppers to spend their money at Walmart rather than elsewhere.
